This month’s meeting will be in two parts. Part one will be a Spring cleanup of the LIDS Display Garden at Planting Fields. For those of you who can help with the task, please meet at the Display Garden at 10 AM. You will have to park at the Hort Center and walk over to the Display garden. Please bring all your own tools, rakes, claws, clippers, kneeling pads, and shovels for digging, if needed. Lunch will be served around noon for all workers. After the winter, the garden is in need of work, so if you can give your time it will be greatly appreciated.

For part two, our guest speaker will be hybridizer Richard Norris of Ashwood Garden Daylilies. Richard is from Northwest Ohio, zone 6. His hybridizing is known for good bud count, branching and health and vigor of the plant. His plants are known for expanding throats, size of bloom and their “instant re-bloom”. Richard’s daylily, Pigment of Imagination, won runner-up for the President’s Cup at the 2012 AHS National Convention. After the program, Richard will auction off some of his daylilies. This is sure to be an interesting and informative meeting.

LIDS is affiliated with the American Hemerocallis Society, the national organization for daylilies. To learn more about AHS, view the video at the link below.
